Today is the first anniversary of my Dad’s passing. A year of bereavement, of reminiscing, of other kinds of firsts.
Our Story
Transition Care Program
My Dad was fortunate to return home from hospital on the Transition Care Program (TCP), twice. The first time was after his Total Knee Replacement (TKR) in 2015 and the second time was after the ‘big stroke’ mid 2017.
Dying at home
My Dad died at home. This was what we had planned for…and we were going to do everything to keep him from having to go back to hospital after his last admission in July 2017.
Diagnosing Dad’s dementia
I knew my Dad would develop dementia. I was pretty sure he would be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease…and eventually he was.
Gone fishing.
Next weekend we are farewelling my Dad. I am trying to create a slideshow and I keep thinking about ‘memories’. It’s poignant really. Dementia and memories.
