There is an abundance of information about dementia out there in the world wide web.
Some of this information is great and some of it is, well, let’s just say not so great.
There are numerous scholarly articles, research papers, opinion pieces, support groups and blogs.
And with all this information it becomes really confusing to know what is relevant and appropriate to suit YOUR situation.
Where to start?
I’d like to suggest a great resource that will help you understand what dementia is.
This great resource was developed at the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre, within the University of Tasmania.
The resource is a Massive Open Online Course and the introductory course is Understanding Dementia.
It’s online, it’s free and anyone can enrol!
On completion of the Understanding Dementia MOOC, you might consider enrolling in the Bachelor of Dementia Care.
For enrolments in 2018, there are HECS scholarships available to cover the first 8 units of the course, allowing you to receive a tuition free Diploma of Dementia Care.
It’s certainly worth taking a look at these courses. They have been written by experts in the field and they are informative and interactive.
The resources developed at the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre are a great place to start your educational journey with Dementia.
Enjoy!
